Typography
IN layout, especially for newspapers / magazines, according to Rustan Surianto (2008) typography associated with: (1) choice of typeface, (2) the size of the letters, (3) the distance the letter, (4) the distance word, (5) leading, and (6) the width of the paragraph. It is to be considered before arranging the material (text and images) for a publication. The following brief exposure associated with these six items typography.
The letter has a certain character. It is not just the letter. There is a letter which gave a serious impression as the type Times New Roman or Garamond. Distance means the distance antarhuruf letters in a word. The smaller the font size, the greater the distance the letter to be comfortable to read. This setting must be done when making the arrangement of text. While the word spacing is the distance between words in a sentence. The more besan letter spacing, should be offset by increasing the distance of the word.
Leading is the distance between lines. For example, the distance between the lines of a sentence with another sentence below or above it. Leading size adjusted to the width of the paragraph. Widening paragraph, the higher the leading order sentences remain comfortable to read and do not look too close.
According to Timothy Samara, to determine the size of the width of the paragraph idealized, can be done by writing Abjat / small alphabet "a" to "z" (without spaces), and then "a" to "z" again, Kemudiaan plus "a" to "m ". So the result will be: "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklm". For the size of this letter, the sequence of the alphabet which became wide ideally paragraphs.
